Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I tried to do a celebratory Thanksgiving cheerleading jump, but it failed, because I haven’t done a jump like that since I was about 13 years old.

For Thanksgiving 2014, Kiwi and I are on Koh Samui. Kiwi’s birthday was yesterday and Thanksgiving is today, so we decided to stay put someplace relaxing and lovely.

I refuse to eat Thai curry today. (I will probably eat Thai curry today.)

I made an attempt to try to find a Western hotel that will do a Thanksgiving buffet to no progress. Then again, we really haven’t seen many Americans on Samui. It’s mostly European expats on the island.

BUT: We did make plans to do something to commemorate our first Thanksgiving as a married couple, and it will please both the Americans and Kiwis in the audience. We’ll share that with you in the next couple of days.

Later tonight, I’ll get on Skype and Facetime to say hello to family back in the States, try to find a feed of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on the Internet and monitor everyone’s Thanksgiving food pics on Instagram and Facebook.

What to be thankful for this year: our families, our friends, their support for our marriage and this trip, and the technology to sustain the ties that bind. Short, simple and true.

For the Americans: Happy Thanksgiving and eat everything. For everyone else: Happy Thursday.

What are you thankful for? If you’re an expat, how are you celebrating Thanksgiving? Comment, comment, comment.
